Where I AM
Susannah Curtis and Bec Watson
3 December 2022 – 15 January 2023
On display at Hive this summer is Where I AM, a wonderful exhibition about connection by portraitist, Susannah Curtis, and sculptor, Bec Watson.
Consisting of over 40 painted and sculpted works by Susannah and Bec, Where I AM invites the viewer to contemplate a variety of different connections. From those at play in this exhibition – between the artist and their subject, the artist and their materials, the works of these two artists, and the artist and the viewer – to those present in our everyday lives. Through Where I AM, Susannah and Bec seek to bring a focus on connection to show that these – and by extension we – are not disparate, isolated elements, but interconnected parts of a greater whole.

About the artists
Susannah Curtis
Susannah Curtis has been a practising artist for over 20 years. She is driven to paint by a desire to learn about herself and her place, seeing the creative process and what it reveals as a means to understand herself more deeply. She has been a finalist in the Archibald, Portia Geach and Lester Prizes.
Bec Watson
Small scale sculptures are a more recent artistic exploration for Bec Watson, which represent images of characters that were formed out of working with the clay and basic forms, deriving entirely from her imagination and subconscious, rather than being representative of any particular individual. She is the owner of Brush Rabbit, an art, vintage and design space in Deloraine.
