Hi-Vis Liminal Spaces: Halfway to Elsewhere
Ulverstone Secondary College, Leighland Christian School, and Penguin District School
Saturday 18 October – Sunday 7 December 2025
Hive is excited to present the third Hi-Vis exhibition at the Ulverstone Art Gallery featuring artworks from high school students in the Central Coast. This time the students created artworks that explore concepts of liminality. They were encouraged to interpret this theme in their own unique ways. Their works are literal or abstract, personal or universal, serene or unsettling.
Liminal spaces are the in-between places — moments or environments that exist within the threshold between one state and another. They are transitions and pauses — they represent the space between what you were and what you will become. These spaces can be physical, emotional, psychological, or even metaphorical.
You are invited to enter here and think of the liminal spaces in your life: the empty hallways, abandoned buildings, twilight hours, airports, waiting rooms, spaces within the body and mind, and the memory of being between childhood and adulthood.
