Parallel Practice
Introducing Parallel Practice, an exhibition that brings together 18 Tasmanian artists in 9 creative pairings, who have generously opened their studios and shared unique personal insights of each other’s art practice.
Without exception each artist is unwavering in their commitment to the other. There is an innate understanding between them that life is messy and comes with edges — it challenges, it tests, and it distils. What emerges in their reflections as a constant however, is the bedrock of shared respect, trust and esteem between each pair — immutable and immovable — a crucible that has forged the nine
relationships and creative practices that have stood the test of time.
Our thanks go to the artists of this exhibition for opening their studios and so generously providing a glimpse of the personal ‘dance’ between their ‘parallel practices’: Anne Clifton and Peter Bowles; Anne Morrison and Troy Ruffels; Eloise Kirk and Rosanagh May; Emma Magnusson-Reid and Paul Eggins; Helen Wright and David Keeling; Helena Demczuk and Raymond Arnold; Kelly-Marie Lewis and Dean Greeno; Lou Conboy and Tom O’Hern; Penny Mason and David Marsden.
