Hive is seeking Expressions of Interest from Tasmanian artists for exhibitions of visually engaging artwork in the Ground Floor Circulation Space.

The Circulation Space is a non-gallery exhibition space that complements Hive’s café, Visitor Information Centre and community spaces. With more than 35,000 visitors each year, it is a high-traffic public environment where exhibitions are experienced as part of a broader visit to Hive.

Hive presents four EOI-sourced exhibitions each year, with a standard exhibition period of approximately 10–12 weeks.

What we’re looking for

Hive is interested in proposals that are visually engaging, thoughtfully presented and appropriate for a diverse public audience.

We welcome applications from artists working across a range of media and artistic practices, with artists from across the Central Coast particularly encouraged to apply.

Proposals will be considered in the context of Hive’s broader exhibition program, including the diversity of artists, artistic practices and perspectives represented.

Is your work suitable?

The opportunity is suitable for wall-mounted artwork and artwork that can be displayed within Hive’s nine display boxes.

Please note:

  • Floor-based installations cannot be accommodated.
  • Individual artworks must weigh no more than 20kg, including hanging mechanisms.
  • Approximately 5.6 running metres of wall space is available.
  • All 2D wall-mounted works must have appropriate hanging fixtures, including D-rings.
  • Artists are responsible for transporting artworks to and from Hive.

There is no artist or exhibition fee, however, artworks may be offered for sale.
