Exhibition Opening: New Life

Join us as we celebrate the opening of Into Autumn at Hive, our new season of exhibitions and displays, featuring New Life, an exhibition by the North West Woodcraft Guild.

This exhibition brings ‘new life’ to old wood — appreciating its age, its imperfections, its beauty, and its story. Rediscovering lost and wasted timber, giving it new life with old and new skills: turning, pyrography, carving, veneering, and CNC. Patience leads to perfection and teaches the next generation wise lessons about using wood and conserving trees.

Feminine Threads by Sandra Jenkins: Honouring the artistry of women’s work in handmade objects, specifically focusing on the intricate beauty of wool thread and crochet squares through oil paintings.

What We Left Behind by Dave Melhuish: exploring the quiet stories of those left behind by Tasmanian soldiers while they were away in the time of war.
