Stay for the whole session or drop in for a couple of hours. \nThere is a cafe on site open until 2pm\, making it the perfect time to meet up with a friend for a coffee and crafting. \nThe vertical paper garden panels created during the workshop will decorate the foyer of the paranaple arts centre for the Paper on Skin™ gala on the 3rd October.\nAll materials are provided.

SUMMARY:Seeds of Curiosity: Ulverstone Community Garden x The Lost Seed Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Ulverstone Community Garden\nThursday 20 August\, 2026\n11.30am – 12.30pm\nFree Event Registration \nFrom healthy soils and pollinators to seeds\, food systems and biodiversity\, community gardens are living laboratories where science\, nature and people come together. \nJoin us at the Ulverstone Community Garden during National Science Week learn how to save seed (and keep it pure!) with heirloom seed expert Kerryn Martin. \nKerryn will be taking participants through the history of many seed varieties\, the importance of seed saving\, techniques to avoid cross-pollination and harvesting and processing seeds for perfect results every time. \n \nKerryn Martin is founder of ‘The Lost Seed’\, an heirloom seed bank situated within the grounds of ‘Annsleigh Gardens’ a historic\, five acres Old World English garden located in the Northwestern part of Tasmania.  With its small beginnings on an island south of Hobart over 23 years ago it has grown to become one of the leading heirloom seed companies within Australia.  As a ‘living’ seed bank it aims to keep the heirloom vegetables alive by growing out and educating home gardeners on the art of seed saving.   Kerryn comes with a wealth of seed saving knowledge and a passion for all things heirloom.     \nThis is one of many event’s in Hive’s Seeds of Curiosity program which is part of National Science Week 2026. \nImage credit: Kerryn Martin \n \n
