DESCRIPTION:Making lightning whenever you want would be awesome and that is what tesla coils allow you to do. In the electricity show we get to explore how tesla coils work and some of the cool things you can do with them\, exploring the way electric fields impact the world around us. \nThis presentation takes place in the Ulverstone Planetarium at Hive. \nPlanetarium terms and conditions \n• Please arrive at Hive at least fifteen minutes before the start of the show.\n• All ticket holders are required to check in at Hive Visitor Services on the ground floor before making their way throughout the building.\n• Tickets can be purchased at Hive Visitor Services on the ground floor if seats are still available.\n• Shows start promptly on the hour\, and unfortunately latecomers cannot be admitted once the doors have been closed.\n• Visitors who leave the Planetarium during the show cannot be re-admitted \nPlease note: This program is recommended for participants aged 5+\, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by their parents

This is the biggest holiday program of the calendar year with extra Planetarium shows starting from Monday January 5th Including all ages shows\, Mon – Sat at 11am! The activity and workshop program starts from 10th January with a special Insect Pinning workshop presented by QVMAG curator\, Dr Alfonsina Arriaga Jiménez. Hive’s Scientist in Residence\, Sam Verne joins the program throughout January talking all things physics with daily activities and presentations. Eloise Kirk\, exhibiting artist in Parallel Practice\, presents art camp a weekend of artistic expression beginning in clay sculpture. Science and Wonders return with Hive’s favourite workshop\, Slippery Slime presented by Colin Lawrence!

Ideal for siblings or two friends\, but Robot Man can match you with another person\, if required. 12 Robots available. \nPart 1: Dash Coding.\nParticipants will use word-block coding (on iPads) to make their robot travel around various board games\, collecting cards\, coins or simply getting the bad guy! You will be able to make your robot travel\, turn\, play sounds\, dance and even more! Compete against your partner or other robots! \nPart 2: Dash Remote Controlled (Same partners)\nAfter a little bit of practice driving\, participants will take turns to remote control their team’s Dash robot to play a game of ‘chasey’\, and then play a bit of soccer.
